Welcome to Rumtumtugger Maine Coons, my name is Mary Stuart. I
live with my husband Mitch, 18 Maine Coons, 1 Somali and 1 old moggy. We all live in a quiet village called Bishops Lydeard at the foot of the picturesque Quantock Hills in Somerset in the UK.
We have always had cats about the house but after seeing a Maine Coon
for the first time in 1995 we decided very quickly that these magnificent cats were the ones for us. We acquired Lionel (Jakatta Leo) in September 1996 and Harry (Rukbat Harry Eccles) three months later. These two boys delighted us so much we decided, after much careful thought and planning, to start breeding our own Maine Coons. With lots of help and advice from other breeders, especially Sandra Turpin (Kassaro Maine Coons) to whom we are very grateful we now have 8 breeding queens and 2 stud cats.
All our cats live in the house with us, kittens are usually born in our
bedroom where I can keep an eye on them and then move into a kitten nursery with their mum until they are litter tray trained and ready to join the rest of the household.
We have large purpose built runs in our large garden for the cats which
like to go out. These runs all have shelter, climbing frames and trees in them and are enjoyed all year round. We are extending the runs this year to include some sort of water feature possibly a pond with a fountain as all our Maine Coons are mad about water and will play in it for hours.
Our kittens are very well socialised and go to their new homes fully
vaccinated, GCCF registered, wormed and treated against fleas. As our adult cats mature they will be tested for HCM and we are currently x-raying our breeding queens hips as a precaution against breeding kittens with hip dysplasia. Both of our stud cats have attained a 'GOOD' hip score and all results will eventually be registered with the OFA. |
